About the Artist

My interest in landscape painting dates back to early in my life. Having grown up in a the big city suburbs of Los Angeles I was always dreaming to get out of the cement jungle and explore, experience and feel the natural world beyond the city. As I matured I took many trips up the coast to Oregon, into the Sierra Nevada to backpack and north to Alaska. These trips opened up my awareness of the variety, expanse and beauty of nature, and once my heart was exposed to such beauty there was no turning back. I love to be outdoors exploring any area, whether I have never seen it or seen it countless times. Spending four challenging years at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca., gave me a strong foundation in all that painting and drawing encompasses. Art, as many artists before me have known, is life! Art is a reflection of one's inner being. How does one interpret it all? All the moods, the textures, the colors? It's all there to be lived through, and however deep an artist feels from all of life's experiences will influence how the art that one creates evolves as a painting or drawing, or for a composer a symphony or song. Most of my paintings do not depict a scene as I have seen them; they are more like idealized representations of what I observed. Any artwork can be a process of struggle, of give and take, or it can be a true bolt of inspiration. In either case I love the creative process, how from a blank canvass something beautiful can be developed. All nature is inspiring to me, in all its moods, be it grand or subtle. If I see something that moves me and is beautiful I'll want to remember it solely for its aesthetic pleasure, but to record it and be able to share it with an audience is even better.

I have been living in the northeast for more than twenty years now, it's a beautiful area that offers me a great variety of scenery. I wish to further explore all that I can, and continue to work and reach new heights through art.
